Call in the Usual Hot Guys :)

Just picture me boogying to "Back in Black" all through this review. :)

Yeeeeees, my little show is back. And maybe this episode profits from coming after the craptastic impostor of a Supernatural episode (CIOASE) we got last week so everything would be shiny and sparkly. But I don`t care, this one felt like old times. A good case-y standalone.

And as far as some suspension of disbelief goes, see above after last week`s CIOASE I`m more than happy to put my fingers in my ears and sing "Lalalala" through some parts. *g*

First a word of dismay though: everybody is squeeing over the "Previously`s" and my clip didn`t have them. It started on the "Now". *sniff*

Good stuff:

Synchronity in motion, honestly Sam channelled Snarky!Dean, even saying "Awesome" in that Deanish tone; both calling the lawyer "Matlock"; their little codes and both figuring out it was an anagram. Yay.

Dean looked utterly, utterly bored to be chained to a chair on murder charges. He was working the case the entire time when his poor lawyer tried to get through to him. Hee.

And Sammy won`t turn on his brother ever. Because his brother is his most beloved little cuddly bear whom he can`t possibly sleep without whole world.
Sam is such a smooth liar, all sincere puppy dog eyes and plausible story. And no, I didn`t believe a word of it. But that`s only because I`m a suspicious and paranoid person and as good as he was lying, the whole story screamed bull to me. :)
Also, did him and Dean come up with the exact same story? Because LB said they matched?

Best confession scene ever. OMG, the one million people outside on the peanut gallery cracked me up because it was like Dean was doing stand-up and he had them in the palms of his hand. They laughed at every freaking joke. *g*
And why were they all there? Did somebody yell all through the precinct: "Come quick, we`re gonna video-tape the blindingly hot guy" ? ;)

And Dean being slammed into walls (not thrown, slammed) will never be not hot. Ähem.
Oh, and didn`t it look like BadCop Pete was about five seconds away from enacting some of the more raunchy prison movies there with him? Honestly he had the same look DadDemon had in DT when he had Dean pinned against the wall. Maybe it`s an automatic response. I know I would molest the boy if I had him pinned against a wall.

Oh, it`s the old "shoot the prisoner in the woods" tactics. Yeah Jason, everybody will believe that after you snatched him without paperwork and didn`t answer dispatch. But: see above. No CIOASE.

And the looks between them: "Shall I get him?" "No, no, wait." "Wrings hands." :-D

I liked the twist with the death omen. And yeah, I called Jason Gedrick (I would make a "he got old" joke here but then I remember when he was younger so I`m not gonna go there *cough*) on being the bad guy. Who else would it be?

Linda Blair? I liked her, didn`t find the actress as strong as Jessica Steen but she was sympathetic and had a nice rapport with Sam/the boys.

Also, the wife of Anthony Giles (Ha ha, that was a good one, writers) who was maybe 20 years old? She was terribly familiar, where the heck do I know her from?
And Dean looked so blindingly hot in his suit there in the flashback but his interrogation style blew. :)

The logistics with the whole St.Louis case were a bit weird. I would have guessed that "Dean Winchester, deceased" aka the shapeshifter might have turned up some weird results upon autopsy. But still why do they think now that this guy was not the real deal. Because they have a Dean?

At least their current charges were clear even though that normal life might seem more far away than ever for either one. Oh, and Sam you big loveable doofus at the end when she said she`d let them walk. Uhm, did you not hear how she just explained that Dean is still pinged as the St.Louis killer? If she did NOT let you walk, you can look forward to conjugal visits at best. *headsmack*

The pea-soup reference didn`t bother me so much. Come on, they never thrived on subtlety. :)

You know, this featured the guest characters pretty heavily, maybe not as much as last week but still, yet somehow I didn`t feel cheated out of my show so it`s possible writers. This though showed me that the whole Roadhouse thing "where every demon knows your name" is not needed.

Oh, and I think nobody would guess my favorite line from the episode: "This Dean-kid is like a gift." Hahahaha, I`ve been preaching this since day one.

Preview for next week? Hell, I`m ready to rumble for this one since I read the most awesome sides. And supernatural women just can`t keep their grubby mitts off our Dean, can they? Kate the vampire smooshed him. Tessa the Reaper looked like she wanted to and now this. :)
And the CD looked ready for some action too.

Okay, Sam got perved on by the WIW but that was her modus operandi. And Meg okay.

Heck, they`re both demon magnets. :)

Am somewhat disappointed about the stupid ratings. Not that I think the show is in any danger. Honestly anything else they`d put there would get ripped to shreds even more. But this poor little show deserves so moch more exposure. While GA and CSI have 20 Mio viewers. Why god, why? I get a bit of vengeful glee when I think about how GA is doing in Germany. Can you say flop with a capital F, barely 1 Mio viewers. When SPN starts on the same network next year and pulls in the average ratings of a "Buffy" or "Charmed", they can so beat this thing. HA.

verybody is squeeing over the "Previously`s" and my clip didn`t have them. It started on the "Now". *sniff*

That is *so* unfair. Maybe someone will put that up for download or on YouTube or something. I wish I knew how to do that.

I loved that, too! :-)

Dean looked utterly, utterly bored to be chained to a chair on murder charges. He was working the case the entire time when his poor lawyer tried to get through to him. Hee.

I was not feeling the angst in this episode, but it was okay because I thought it worked just the way it was.

Best confession scene ever. OMG, the one million people outside on the peanut gallery cracked me up because it was like Dean was doing stand-up and he had them in the palms of his hand. They laughed at every freaking joke. *g*

I have to watch this again. I didn't even notice that.

And the looks between them: "Shall I get him?" "No, no, wait." "Wrings hands." :-D

I totally forgot to mention that, but yeah... That was cool.

Linda Blair? I liked her, didn`t find the actress as strong as Jessica Steen but she was sympathetic and had a nice rapport with Sam/the boys.

Yeah, that's true. I really liked Jessica Steen's character, too. They should bring her back. *g*

She was terribly familiar, where the heck do I know her from?

I looked her up. She was on Dark Angel in the Love in Vein episode. (She was also on Stargate SG-1. That's the only other show of hers that I recognized. Oh, but she was on The 4400, too. I haven't seen that, but maybe you have.)

Me too! Exactly.

I don't really understand the ratings. I followed the Stargate ratings for a few years and did some research on them, so I knew what was good for *Stargate* after having been on the air for 9 or 10 years, but I have no clue what they'd be expecting for a show like Supernatural on a brand new network like the CW. Some people even in this country don't get the CW.

I just found it for dl. Teeheeheehee. That was so funny because after the first seven episodes of Season 1 - that I watched in a row - I could only shake my head at all the times these yokels seemed to buy their obviously lies. Excluding PT they never bothered to dress the part. Maybe all the people were hypnotized by the Pretty?

I have to watch this again. I didn't even notice that.

It was hilarious. I giggled all through the next few scenes. :)

Yeah, that's true. I really liked Jessica Steen's character, too. They should bring her back. *g*

And they could really use a friend on the force - or a hundred. *g*

Thanks, yup I do remember her from DA and 4400 but something else too, I`m sure. And I guess in ten years every actor/actress in Canada was in "Stargate." ;)

you gotta see the opening clip. the version i downloaded was from the spnnewsletter and it had it included i believe. its worth it cuz it lists off some of the names and occupations they've on the show. its awesome. i shook my head and told my roomie who is just now starting to watch the show "thats not even all of them"

even without last week being without sam, this episode was killer.

as for the ratings, our show is better. it just is. i know it is so i just deal with the crap. i feel like a kid with other shows yelling "WELL YEAH? OUR SHOW HAS BROTHERS WHO ARE TELEPATHIC WITHOUT ACTUALLY BEING TELEPATHIC!"

I finally saw the "Previously`s". Hee. That was so hilarious. I so love the alarm company outfits with their little name stickers on it. Did they specifically rob a Dean and a Sam? *g*

Exactly. *pets little show*

That cracked me SO up. "Murder charges? Death penalty? Whatever, dude, I have a ghost to catch." It's like he's that detached from the "real" world, he can't even take its rules seriously. They just don't count for him And seriously, do you think he'd been in prison for long? Either get gotten away the next few days or we'd seen Sammy get him out...
I had some Prison Break fatasies all through the episode. *G*

And predictably there have been cries of outrage about why he wasn`t more scared and how his snark was forced in this situation. Three guesses where. :)
I find it more sad how apparently he is not capable of some healthy self-centeredness.

And seriously, do you think he'd been in prison for long? Either get gotten away the next few days or we'd seen Sammy get him out...

I don`t think he ever left that examination room and actually was in a cell. It was still the first 48 hours, wasn`t it?

Dean would certainly be a popular new inmate. :) And Sam can have conjugal visits. *g*

Love your review. I felt much the same way. After last week's episode this one seemed like Shakespeare. It definitely showed how and why the roadhouse crew is not necessary and is wrong for this show. You want recurring characters? This is how to introduce them. Not that Ballard is recurring but this is the way to start trying to introduce them, see how people react, see how they fit in the SPN universe then try to bring them back now and again. Don't say "here are shiny new AWESOME characters, you MUST love them". Not that anything would have helped with the roadhouse, the whole concept is entirely wrong for the series.

As for the ratings, often a show's ratings speak to what the audience thought of the previous week's episode. I don't think the viewership dropped enough for that to be the case this week, it's probably just "one of those things" but it could have contributed. At least I hope that is what they think!! LOL

You know what I thought there? If the writers want to pretend the roadhouse never existed and never mention it again, I will too. Normally I`d nitpick about loose ends but I`d be willing to make an exception. :) Then again maybe closure in the form of demons finally smarting up and blowing up the very known hunter gathering place might work too. Decisions, decisions.
In any case I babbled at length in my John-meta for SS what a bad, bad idea it was to tell them the secret. Poor naive Sam, maybe next time Dean will duct-tape his mouth shut. *shakes head*

Ratings-wise I think we suffered from SV`s drop, I mean they lost about half a Mio viewers. I stopped watching this show but read up on some spoilers and holy moly their Lana-obsession seems to have reached a new level. They without a doubt made her the single most important person in this universe.

*sticks fingers in ears* Haven't read much spoilers for Crossroad Blues lala*

But still why do they think now that this guy was not the real deal. Because they have a Dean?

My guess is they took his fingerprints and they matched.

In other news this episode felt so much like season one (especially like "Skin") I almost wept with joy.

It was, it was. I was overjoyed. It made me remember why I had originally started watching.
