Since we`re nearing the Season Finales of most of my shows, I thought I`d do one more little update on how they fared this year IMO. As a little aside, though, can I ask: what is up with this habit to pump up the Seasons to 23-24 episodes lately? Because lets get real, writers had trouble filling the usual 22 eps and at least 1/3 of it was mostly filler and/or shit. I get they want to reduce reruns but before upping quantity, you should up quality.

Anyway, here goes:

Pretty much all my crime shows, Castle, Bones, NCIS, NCIS LA and Criminal Minds can be summed up with: I still watch those, I still like some characters/concepts and some episodes truly entertain me, others, not so much. Now, NCIS LA has to be the less tired of all of them because it is the youngest whereas NCIS (going into Season 11!!!) is more of a chore.

Elementary is a new one I started this year and it entertains me for an hour each week, to be forgotten till it`s next on. I don`t have a problem seeing Sherlock as Sherlock Holmes, though. It has always been a character I could accept in wildly different incarnations so this one? No prob either. Am impressed that so far they are staying true to the "no romance" mandate.

Hannibal I just picked up but I already know, it wouldn`t work for me longer than probably this one Season. I like it but it is mini-series material for me.

My sitcoms are still
- The Big Bang Theory - still watch it but the best episode this Season for me (the one where the girls discuss Thor`s hammer) also made me sad because the show had this kind of nerd humor all the time and now it simply doesn`t. I still laugh during episodes but it`s more generic humor now.
- Community - I enjoyed the beginning of the Season but the last few eps? Just not my thing. Didn`t really feel like Community and wasn`t funny so it`s probably just as well that it`s coming to an end.

Now for the more genre fare.

New shows I picked up this Season are:
Arrow - I really do like how the show has developed, the overarching story, the characters, it feels much more cohesive than in the beginning. Also, I think Stephen Amell is better than just his abs in my opinion. NowOllie is a somber, brooding character but islandOllie is a hoot and a half and pre-islandOllie is a fratboy douchebag and I think he manages to make them distinct characters from each other.

Beauty and the Beast - yup, I`m apparently one of two people still watching it because the romance works for me. I absolutely get why people would walk away from the show in disgust and boredom because the romance is the only thing it has got going for it. So if that doesn`t grab you, it will be a bust.

Defiance, I just started but so far, I`m invested.

Returning shows were:
The Vampire Diaires - an odd Season, I can see why it got some hate but individiual episodes still entertain me and I`m curious for the Finale

Person of Interest - I put this down as genre because of reasons but nevertheless, it kicks major ass. I haven`t loved every ep this year but the main story arc and character work? Fantastic.

Grimm - Apart from one storyline this year (three guesses on what is), I loved the second Season. I love Nick`s camaraderie with all of his Wesen friends and allies.

Game of Thrones may be halfway through Season 3 already but it`s hard to judge till a year/book is finished so I will just say: good stuff.

Fringe ended - sniffle and Samnat got dropped.

In conclusion: I still watch way too many shows.

I just started Arrow and I'm on episode 9 now--does it get better? Because I'm trying REALLY hard to like it (and nnnngh, Ollie) but that aside I'm having real trouble to get invested in it. And I say that as someone who loves super heroes, and who still harbours nostalgic feelings for Smallville. The stuff I've seen so far is just so very...soapy. Maybe I'm actually done with the way TheCW produces shows. The only likeable characters so far to me are Felicity, Walter and Diggle. And Ollie. And what's up with Katie Cassidy's never-moving face?

A friend told me Roy Harper shows up eventually which at this point is basically my only reason for watching :-/

I can`t recall too much about the first few episodes but the Ollie/Laurel 4ever stuff eases up significantly.

At some point it just became less about their love lives and you learned more about the main bad guy`s plans. It`s very Batman-ish now in terms of plot. More comic-book-y, if that makes sense.

Also, the island flashbacks just get soooo much better than in the beginning.

I`d say give it a bit more time still.

Okay. I'll give it some more time :-)

Oh yay, Batman! I've been reading tons of Batman comics recently and just rewatched a few episodes of the 1960s show so...yay comic book-y and more time it is :-)

The one with the "POW" and "WOOM" and all that? I have nostalgic memories about that, too.

Yup, that one :D So much more hilarious now when you actually understand just how silly it is :p Burt Ward will always be my Dick Grayson. And I'm very amused that even in a totally camp show like that Adam West pulled off a much better Bruce Wayne than Christian Bale ever did. (No, I don't care for Bale as Bruce Wayne one bit.)

I really liked him, though I liked the first one best. What I never really cared for are the Tim Burton/Michael Keaton Batman flicks. Meh.

I started to watch Arrow but got boreed after 3 or 4 eps. The lead character (and actor) is not my type i guess.
Heh, i have the same feelings about Elementary. I like it a lot when i watch it then i totally forget about it till next ep. But i oike how they promiss no romance there and i hope they'll stay true to this. It makes things a lot more interesting.

I thought for sure they would for a "will they/won`t they" scenario but so far, so good. Hope they keep it up.

I don't usually read spoilers or other info for this show but i was told the writers promissed there won't be even hint of romance. I hope it's true and they'll keep their promiss cause it's so cliche i want to cry every time i see it on my screen. Keeping them friends and professionals would be a lot better.

I still enjoy Castle, the romance hasn't changed it for me. Not sure how the finale will run with them both having questions about where the romance is going though.

Supernatural will always have my interest, it's one of the few shows I have to watch first run, the rest I tape and watch when I get the chance.

I love Person of Interest, I still have two episodes to watch though because my kid is playing softball and I swear I've not been home in months.

Arrow I've lost interest in, I was great with Diggle knowing who he was and also Felicity but I didn't like that he told his best friend. It lost some of the mystery after that.

Defiance is a new love, I missed the premier cause I was sick, but was able to catch a rerun right before the next episode. Can't wait for each new one to see what's going to happen.

I lost interest in Elementary after two episodes, he was way to manic for me.

Never been a fan of the NCIS's of course some of that is my hate for Weatherly. I can't stand the man.

Beauty and the Beast makes me cringe. The original was fantastic, and neither the premise nor the actors can live up to that. I know it's not the same show, but to me this is a sad shadow to the original. Just to be fair though I refused to watch 21 Jump Street, Dark Shadows because they made a mockery of the originals and I don't have much hope for The Lone Ranger either.

I don`t mind the romance as long as the focus isn`t too much on their relationship. Mostly, I watch it for slightly goofy cases.

Supernatural will always have my interest, it's one of the few shows I have to watch first run,

I haven`t liked it since mid-Season 5, only briefly at the beginning of this Season but that turned around so badly, I finally, finally dropped it. When Jensen does a new project, I`m there but not before.

Arrow I've lost interest in, I was great with Diggle knowing who he was and also Felicity but I didn't like that he told his best friend. It lost some of the mystery after that.

I didn`t mind, Tommy was kind of superflouus before and now it looks like they are doing stuff with him.

Yeah, I realised this earlier today. He might not be Robert DeNiro but he does play them as three different characters which is more than I've seen a lot of other actors do like, in their entire career. Also he's really good at dead-pan comedy, in the few bits when the show goes for actual funny scenes.

Ah, I see you are still sticking with the show. :)

Agreed, I think he really works for the part.

Yeah, though mostly because I love Felicity and am curious about what they'll do with Roy :-) And I kinda love Tommy.

Yup, definitely. He puts a lot of effort in the character, I think.
