Musings

Okay, I`ve finally made my way through Season 9 of Stargate and on the whole I liked it. The new people worked for me and I enjoyed the Ori-arc. It introduced a fresh new thing into the show.

The ending was somewhat repetitive. We had the unconquerable bad guys about to invade with their superior firepower and SG1 searching frantically for the conveniently introduced Superweapon - Ancient of course - to save the day. Cough, cough. I think I`m having a deja vu here.

Although I fear they are painting themselves in a corner with the Ori. These guys are just so uber-powerful. And neat how the medieval villagers still were able to build super-duper spaceships.
I know, the Priors probably powered them up with their own Superness but that`s kind of the problem. A little divine whiff and the Ori or their followers are unstoppable. Really, the Ancients should get off their asses and fight them themselves. I mean what else can all the other races do against ascended beings? That would be like fighting Q, pointless.
With the Goa`uld and even the Replikators, there was at least a chance of winning.

Will see how it goes. Like I said, I still very much liked the Season as a whole.

Oh, and in my neverending quest to pimp SPN I watched the Pilot with somebody via phone-conference. :) And I guess it`s high time for Season 2 since I start to nitpick on the oddest things. Here I thought the Lawrence fire-department or emergeny personel kind of sucked. You have this poor family sitting on their car after their life pretty much just burned to cinders. And nobody has even bothered to put a blanket on them. I mean, putting blankets on traumatized people is like LAW or something. :)
Poor wee!Dean is out there in his jammies.
Please someone tell me they at least checked these people for smoke ingestion. Man.

You didn't watch it yesterday evening, did you?

Because I rewatched it then, too and I thought exactly the same thing. Including poor Dean in his ugly as fuck pyjamas in the middle of the night in november. Poor guy must have freezing.

Even with the nice toasty fire just off the side. *eg*

And you know, right before the camera pans over to them they show a paramedic taking a gurney out of the EMT car.
So I was all wtf??!?11ONE!?!

As a matter of fact, I did. :) Hee, I think for a moment there our brain waves must have been totally in synch there.

Yeah, that got me because John is a tough as nails marine, Sammy is swaddled in his blanket but weeDean? A 4 year old kid out in the night in his pyjama? I mean he just kind leans on John, the guy doesn`t even put his arm around both his children.
Why does nobody make sure he is warm? They should all be shipped off to the hospital for a few check-ups on general principle, especially the children.

Yeah, that makes sense because even if there`d be anything left of Mary (which I doubt), you`d hardly wanna wheel it out in front of her traumatized kid. Oh boy.

That is actually something that pissed me off right at the first viewing. What the hell? He can't hold Sammy in one arm and Dean in the other? It boggled my mind. Still does.

Yes, the fire is still burning and if they find anything at all they'll find it when everything cooled off.
And you know, they are there! They have blankets and aaargh!

Exactly. The way it was staged made it seem extra-cold for poor little Dean. You know that among other things for the longest time had me convinced John was not the real John.
He was so cuddly with Dean before and then the fire seemed to consume him. Totally. I thought an impostor had raised them.

And later on the family picture, Sammy is on John`s knee, Dean has to lean over again. Uhm, okay. He looks weirdly like an outsider there.

I`m undecided about Mary`s ghost in Home. The blocking made it necessary for her to pass by Dean but I still felt for him there. He was basically dismissed.
Maybe I was senstitive though on the heels of Misery and the most unequal treatment since Cinderella and the stepsisters. *facepalm*

Aaargh indeed.
