The idiot box and I

Over the hiatus I got all caught up on:

- Legend of the Seeker - really sad it got cancelled
- Eleventh Hour - kinda sad it got cancelled
- Fringe - happy it goes on
- Vampire Diaries - so much better than the initial impression

Still to go:

- White Collar
- Leverage

I'm debating on Heroes because it would be 3 Seasons to watch still. And I'm planning to check out this Sherlock thing everyone went nuts about recently.
And of course come fall Season, my itiniery is pretty full as it is:

Monday: House, Castle
Tuesday: NCIS, NCIS L.A.
Wednesday: Criminal Minds (though I'll have to see how that looks without 2/3 of its established female characters)
Thursday: Big Bang Theory, Bones, Fringe, Vampire Diaries
Friday: possibly SPN (reading up on it and then deciding if it's watcheable), maybe out of despair SGU
Saturday: Merlin (when the heck does it start again?)

God, do I watch a lot of crime. I would really LOVE more genre (fantasy/mystery/Sci-fi) so if anybody has any recs for the upcoming Season? Nothing I read in the descriptions struck my fancy, it seemed a lot of spy-stuff or close to that ilk and not really interested there.

I think Merlin starts September 11th?

My watchlist has shrunk so much recently--Merlin, White Collar, Psych (so far, though I'm not fond of this season so I might ditch it), How I Met Your Mother. Possibly Criminal Minds and Castle, but I'm on the fence because Castle season 2 was so boring and I don't want to watch Criminal Minds with half of the cast missing.

People seem to like "Pillars of the Earth", from what I can tell.

Thank you. I hope it doesn't start as wonky as Season 2.

I'm apprehensive about Castle myself because while I liked the first half or so of Season 2, in the last few eps it went so much into the relationship drama and apparently this looks to continue. :/ And yeah, CM, I will give it a chance but we'll see.

Of course I'm hardly dreading anything as much as SPN. One worse spoiler after another. :(

Haven't heard of it but I'll look into it. Thanks.

Me too. I just...I wish the BBC people would realise that if Arthur finally found out about Merlin and had to be torn between the loyalty to his father and Merlin's friendship, it would make for some GREAT storylines. Sadly, I don't think it'll happen. Ever. Or not very soon :-/

True about Castle. I just didn't like that relationship drama at all.

That's not even on my "I'll watch the first episode to see if I like it" list anymore.

I think it's based on the novel by Ken Follett, and it has Rufus Sewell. Hmm, maybe I should watch that one too...*rubs chin*

Yes, they have pulled away too much from the Arthur/Merlin friendship for my liking. Shouldn't they (and their journey) be central to the show?

For me, it's pretty just Jensen (and a bit Misha at this point). However, I will not watch humiliation!porn for Dean any more. So, if they do continue that, not even Jensen can hold me.

Oh. My interest levels just raised. :)

Exactly! I mean--that's at the heart of the story, right? I do hope they won't start at zero again this time. Because I did REALLY like the second half of season two. The trailer looked good, so I'm mildly hopeful so far.

See, I can't even watch it for Jensen and Misha. Boo :-( (Plus, Pix and I have basically pulled so many jokes about Jared in May that I could never take the guy seriously again if I TRIED.)

Oh. My interest levels just raised. :)
So did mine, actually.

I just ordred season two of "Coupling" on DVD. I can't believe I still only own season one after all these years.

Me too. Not another reset, please.

Please not. I finally want them to really bond. :-( Sometimes, I'm this close to writing my own fanfic version of it.

I thought Pillars of Earth was just a drama, not fantasy or something like it???

I'm not sure. I think it's a historical dramas thing? Then again, lots of period drama novels make use of fantasy elements. Haven't read the novel, actually, but I always thought the premise was to build a cathedral that reaches up to the sky, which then would sort of--make it sci-fi/fantasy?

That's pretty much what my google fu revealed. Medieval times could at least hit a couple of my fantasy kinks.

That's what I figured. At least it would work for me, I guess, plus the whole "build a huge cathedral" thing does have a touch of fantasy.

I'm also glad my memory did not totally fail me *phew*

I just googled it and it's set in medieval times at least. Guess that could be close enough to "fantasy" to fit the bill. Drats about Seeker again. :(

I'd love a great SciFi show/space opera for a change but don't think one of those is on the horizon for the next couple years.

Hehe, you mean to tell me it's...good? *g*

And while I didn't manage right now, I might get to it this weekend. During the week, I pretty much fall into my bed all zombie-like and accomplish nothing. :/

I hear you, believe me. And it's true, you should at least have slightly above-average-zombie-brainpower when you watch Sherlock to actually enjoy it.
Have fun on the weekend - I shall wait for your squee. ^^
