And the blow-driers shall set them free...

I woke up this morning to find that the lock on our front door - with the key in it - had been frozen solid, effectively trapping us in the house. So, I turned on my inner MacGuyver and blow-dried us to freedom. :)

I also had ices on the inside of my bedroom window. This is one cold, cold, COOOOOOOOOLD winter right now. Minus 18 degrees Celcius last night. Brrrr. Also, worried for my cat. Haven't yet seen him today. I wanted to keep him inside last night because it was so cold but he whined and scratched the door till he was allowed outside. Stubborn little thing. *grumbles*

Merry Christmas to you, too. And I join you in hoping the wheather will get a bit better again. I still have to work (and drive to and from work) next Monday to Wednesday.

At least kitty-kat showed up again, demanding to be fed and petted. :)

That's awesome that you had a MacGuyver moment. Hehe. I had one too a year ago when we had a typhoon hit us so hard that even with the windows shut, the wind was blowing so hard it was pushing water up and inside the windows and whatever crevices it could. Our 29th floor unit was experiencing a mini-flood from all the water leaking in.

Duct tape didn't work to seal the water out, neither did trash bags, cling wrap (pushed it in the cracks/ crevices to prevent water from coming in. I was wishing for some sealant or even gum when I remembered I had some CLAY (for kids) left over for an art thing. Used it to seal the windows and AC vents, etc and it worked like a charm. Hehehe.

Hope your cat's alright though. Stay warm!

29th floor? Yikes, must have been almost apocalyptic wheather. But good thinking on the clay, though. :)

Cat is back and now snuggled up on my couch.

Glad to hear your kitty's alright. :-)

Yup, the winds were pretty fierce. To give you an idea, you know those big ad billboards - several of those were battered and demolished, electrical posts went down, entire sections of the city didn't have electricity for weeks. Streets were impassable in some areas because they were blocked by debris.

I was more concerned about the wind shattering our windows than the water really because the howling was unbelievable. It was a good thing that storm only lasted a couple of hours.

And yet it still wasn't the worse weather we'd ever gotten. :P

How's your cat?

Cat is back, now sitting under the heater. :)

- 25? *shudders* We usually don't have that cold winters. It's not the coldest ever (I think the lowest temp ever registered in Germany was minus 45) but mostly it's moderate with minus 5 to plus 3 or so.

-45? Wow. Now that's cold. I prefer -5 -10 with no big wind - not cold and no water under your feet.

Don't you just LOVE McGuyver moments?!

I had my last one when a small part of my clotheshorse fell down onto the downstairs neighbour's balcony. The neighbour hates me, so I sure as hell didn't want to go downstairs and ask him to give me the thing back. I still had an iron hook thingy to hang the potato nets in my kitchen, so I got out some string, put them together and...well, went fishing from my balcony, grabbed the damned thing and pulled it back up. \o/

McGuyver fucking RULEZ, even after all these years!

BTW: Glad to hear your kitten made it back sound and safe!
