I've got a theory, it could be bunnies

Okay, nothing more needs to be said on the slashiness of "Poisened Chalice" because yowser but am I the only one thinking that

Nimueh will turn out to be Arthur's mother?

They aren't historically correct anyway so it doesn't have to be Igraine.

She is conspicously absent and believed dead.

Uther obviously has a past with her.

"Shall we tell Arthur about her?" Tell him what? If she was just a powerful sorceress that is their enemy, why be so secret?

They make a big case out of her not killing Arthur with her own hands. It gave Uther the best clue as to who she was. And she did look a bit conflicted in that one "gaze in the well" scene.
Also I could see some similarity in the actors' likenesses.

In other news we had sacrificing "I'll drink it" "No, I will" , carrying - why not bridal style?, a noble quest to save his servant's life - which Morgana's nice words notwithstanding, even the noblest of kings likely wouldn't do without a personal motivation, Merlin calling out for Arthur in his (sick)bed "faster, go faster", pride Arthur offering himself up for the stocks for a month - wow.

Those two supersede canon and have entered Mega-cannon territory.

They're certainly dropping all these little clues that seem to point to it.

Wheee, Merlin! *g* Slash on a stick!

As for Nimueh: Someone (was it mareen?) said that Nimueh actually was the court physician when magic was still allowed, but she couldn't save Arthur's mother depite her powers and that's why Uther banned magic from his kingdom. Or something like that *g*

Heh. That sounds vaguely naughty. :D

Certainly could be but then I don't really get all this shifty behaviour by Uhter/Gaius and need for secrecy from Arthur. This seems like something they could easily tell him.

Perhaps Nimueh is the wicked-fairy and Arthur will turn out to be Dornröschen. ;)
