Summary: Dean reveals a hidden talent – and Sam's world view is that much closer to crumbling. :)

Full on Swayzed

Sam dragged his feet when they entered the studio - he'd never been particularly interested in dancing, ballroom or otherwise, probably something to do with the fact that he couldn't move his feet in a graceful rhythm to any kind of music to save his life. Even Jess, who loved to dance, had finally given up on trying to drag Sam onto dance floors.

Dean, however, seemed vivacious, almost bursting with energy as he watched the pairs in the spacious room glide over the wooden floor.

A woman approached them, taking in their dishevelled looks with a frown. “I'm Tanya. Can I help you?”

Sam expected Dean to sprout some bullshit about being cops or reporters or maybe even homeland security agents to get them the necessary info on the case, so the words actually coming out of Dean's mouth made Sam's drop open in shock.

“Yeah, I heard you're short a dancing instructor at the moment and I need a job so…” Dean trailed off.

Sam gaped at him, sure that this was it, his brother had finally gone crazy. What did Dean hope to accomplish by that lie? Sure, the instructor currently missing was their case in a way, but, surely, now the woman – Tanya - would want to see some demonstration of Dean's supposed talents as a dancing instructor.

Maybe Dean had forgotten that that would actually require the ability to dance? This wasn't exactly something Dean could lie or charm his way through.

Well, maybe if he did it naked, Sam figured surly, as he noticed Tanya's obvious appraisal of Dean's body. And his own, as Sam noticed, gulping heavily.

But Dean didn't look perturbed at all, not even when Tanya did ask him to accompany her to the dance floor. He waggled his eyebrows suggestively and gestured for her to walk ahead.

What happened next did shake Sam, and his whole world-view really, to his very core – and, considering everything he had seen in his life, that wasn't an easy feat – but Dean, his Dean, his loud, thouroughly macho brother was ballroom-dancing. And he was doing it well, as far as Sam could tell.

Tanya was calling out instructions – Sam barely recognized them as the names of various dances, while someone in the background had put on a medley of music to go with it. Foxtrot went to Cha-Cha, which morphed, into Tango, which became Mambo before the pair finally moved on to a slow Waltz.

Meanwhile, Dean's body moved as gracefully as Tanya's, his movements never faltering and their feet seemingly flying over the floor in a way that made Sam's eyes blur. Everybody else had stopped their own dancing and gathered to watch them as well.

Finally, the little impromptu session was finished. The whole studio was clapping now, and Dean even gave a little courtesy bow.

Tanya went back to a small group of dancers, probably fellow instructors, talking animatedly while throwing glances in Dean's direction every now and then. Most likely, they were talking about Dean's job application, and, from the looks of it, both the instructors and a couple of the present 'students' – both of the male and female variation as it appeared to Sam – Dean had a real shot. Splendid.

When Dean made his way over back to Sam, he smirked. “Ease up, Sammy. If the bell rings out midnight your face might stay like this.”

“Wha…I mean how…why…” Sam was at a loss for words.

Dean just shrugged. “After you went to College, there was this totally hot chick in New Orleans. Annabelle. Dancer.” A blissful look came over Dean's face just then. “Oh, the things she could do with—“

“No need to go into details, I get the picture.” Sam cut him off quickly.

Shaking his head, Dean went on. “Anyways, Dad was down for the count at the time – broken leg – so we stayed a while. Annabelle thought it'd be fun to teach me.”

Sam's eyebrows nearly disappeared under his hairline. “And you went along with it?”

Dean chuckled. “What can I say, it was fun.”

Sam frowned. “She taught you all…” He gestured to the dance floor as if Dean was still on it, “…this?”

“Sure. It ain't so hard, geek boy. You just need to have some coordination and a rudimentary feeling of rhythm.”

Yeah, right, easier said than done, Sam thought grumpily. “How long did she teach you?”

Once more, Dean shrugged. “About a month, give or take.” He grinned proudly. “She said I was a natural.”

Sam scoffed. “You're totally Baby, is what you are.”

“Huh?” Dean looked confused.

“Baby? The chick from 'Dirty Dancing'.”

Dean looked outraged. “What? I'm so Swayze here, dude.”

Sam gleefully shook his head. “But see, it was Baby who was taught to dance by the experienced professional.”

Now Dean's eyes narrowed. He waved over to Tanya, who broke off from the group she had been standing with and came back over to them.

“Tanya, my brother here, he is a bit shy, but he'd love to get down and dirty on the dance floor as well.”

Sam instantly sobered, a panicked look appearing on his face. “Wha…what?”

The woman smiled. “Of course. Is he as good a dancer as you are?”

Dean put his arm around Sam in mock sympathy, ignoring Sam's tenseness. “Well, I'm afraid, he isn't quite as blessed in the fine arts as I am, but he sure makes up for it with enthusiasm.” He gave Sam a little push into Tanya's direction.

As Sam was dragged away, he mouthed a silent help me to his brother, giving his best pitiful puppy look – many times when they were kids, Dean had been known to be softened by it, giving up on a particular form of retribution he had been about to visit on his little brother – but, this time, Sam was out of luck as Dean just grinned and gave him the thumbs up, obviously intent on letting Sam suffer his punishment for the little joke in full force.

As expected, San spend the rest of the evening apologizing profusely to the owner of all the delicate toes he stepped on. After the fifth woman declared him unteachable and a lost cause, he heaved a sigh of relief, quickly making his way over to the bench on the far left side of the room and slumped down.

And if his bottom lip was thrown out in a permanent pout as he was forced to watch Dean whisking by, elegantly twirling first a voluptuous brunette, then a perky red-head and lastly a tall, sultry blond baring a striking resemblance to Jess – all of them giggling and gazing adoringly at Dean – Sam couldn't be blamed for it at all. Not one little bit.

- End -

The idea of Dean dancing--and dancing well--is highly appealing. Plus, Sam does suffer so divinely.

Cute story! I love the images of Dean as a skilled ballroom dancer, and Sam being forced to dance against his will. *g*

If he could dance too, I think it would be more than a girl could take. You'd just pass out dead right at his feet, with the happiest, dreamiest smile on your face, but yeah totally dead. Death by hotness, totally.

So cute! We know how graceful Dean is, (apologies to Sam-girls aside) much more graceful than his little bro. He so would pick up some useful "skills" while on "shore-leave".

Man, wouldn't that be something to watch on the show?

Beautiful imagery and I can see how Dean would turn out to be good at dancing, not only because of his gracefulness but also because of the way he would be in control without it being obvious.

The only thing I wouldn't agree with is that Sam would really be pouting or making a bitch face when seeing his brother "whisking by, elegantly twirling..." I prefer to think that he would secretly be very happy about however Dean could escape the hunt for a bit.

Anyway, loved it! Thanks for sharing, D.

...again forgot something I wanted to tell you already in my first little comment (to your drabble-threesome): I LOVE your icon - his eyes are just so beautiful and deep. Did you create it yourself?

Thanks for any answer. D.
