Ficcie: Guardian

Title: Guardian
Author: astri13
Characters: outsider's POV
Rating: PG
Word Count: 333
Disclaimer: I don't own anything about the show.
Notes: This little baby-ficlet just showed up in my brain today. No idea why. :)

He had made himself comfortable on the old chair, lazily soaking up the late afternoon sun. Dinner wouldn't be for another hour, and he had already made his rounds, leaving him with nothing to do at the moment.

Two men, brothers, had arrived earlier in a shiny black car. He liked the car, all sleek and smooth, even though it made a lot of noise. Especially that creaking sound, that rang out when you opened the doors, hurt his ears.

They had been friendly, speaking a few words to him. Not everyone was these days - after all, he was just a lowly guard so why bother, right? - and he appreciated it. Dean, the one with the bright smile, had even shared a Snickers bar with him, and Sam, the giant with hair and eyes not unlike his own, had jovially patted him on the back.

Of course he knew all about them already - their reputation preceded them - though they didn't know that. In fact, they'd probably be horrified at the thought of someone else knowing that much about them. Then again, he was pretty sure he could convince the brothers that he wasn't one to tattle easily.

A sound drew his attention and he looked up. A pretty young woman with short, blond hair came closer, smiling at him. He rose to meet her. After all that was his job, guarding this place. He knew about her too, of course. Knew her innocent smile belied the part of her that was anything but. Unfortunately for him, that was the part in command right now. And in that moment he also knew his time had come. Even guardian spirits didn't live forever after all. Especially not those in the vicinity of the Winchesters from what he heard.

He gave a few loud barks to warn Bobby and the brothers. The woman reached out for him again, and soon everything was eerily quiet again on the old junkyard. The guardian lay dead.

WAHHHH! Poor Rumsfeld. I can take anything, anything but when the dogs get killed...nope, especially when they go protecting their people. I swear, I can't even watch Jurassic Park 2 because of that scene where the little dog is barking at the T-Rex and gets eaten. :)

Cruelty to animals is something that gets me everytime. :/ Yesterday I even rescued a little mouse that our cats had found to play with. My mom said I was crazy but the kittens had it and the little thing would have had a long, drawn-out torture-game to look forward to.

And poor Rumsfeld indeed. One of the usnung heroes of the show.

Beautiful, sad, perfect piece.

And yeah, cruelty to animals - kills me, too.

Thank you. :) I felt so bad for poor Rumsfeld in the episode-

Oh! Just thought you might like to know, I'm adding this to my memories.

Cool, that`s a great compliment. :)

Oh wow. Is it wierd that this wouldn't have bothered me at all had it not been a dog? Poor Rumsfeld. I'd forgotten about what Meg did to him. So sad. Lovely ficlet.

...and Sam, the giant with hair and eyes not unlike his own... Hee. I should have figured out who was talking after that. It would appear I'm in serious need of my morning coffee.

Heh. But poor Rumsfeld indeed. :/

Hee. I should have figured out who was talking after that.

I tried to make it not to obvious at first but still throwing in some little clues as to who our mysterious narrator was.

Thank you.

i managed to convince myself for a while that meg hadn't actually killed rumsfeld. i figured any dog of bobby's would be able to save itself. but no. :( the thing i really like about this (besides the crack at sam's hair :D ) is that rumsfeld KNOWS meg's possessed. he was a good dog.

No, no, don`t stop on account of me. I like the way you`re thinking. :)
With the reference to Sam`s hair, I couldn`t help myself. *g*

Thank you.

Totally, stick away. :) Thank you so much. I`m glad you liked it.

Oh, this just makes me sniffle. I love the idea of Rumsfeld being wiser than people think of a dog, hearing and knowing so many things, and yes, being a good judge of whoever comes near. Brave fellow, to stand and do his duty despite knowing how evil she was. I think I need to go hug my dogs, now ... *sniff*
Cheers ~

One small type-o - you wrote "sniggers bar" when I think you meant Snickers bar. :-)

Thank you, I just felt poor Rumsfeld deserved its own little salute. :)

And thank you for catching the typo. Totally missed this.

This is an original concept, indeed - and you write it in a way that makes it possible to empathise with Rumsefeld hehe - in fact, he seems to posses an Bobby-like quality himself, which really fits with the idea of dogs being like their owners etc.

Thank you muchly. That`s a good point about dogs and their owners. Any dog of Bobby just had to be cool by default. :)

This is nice. I didn't figure out who it was until the end. And I'd even thought, once, as his death as being one as an unsung one. So - good song.

Thank you muchly. I tried to keep one guessing as long as possible so it`s great that it worked to some degree. :)

Awww, I know, it was so sad when his barking stopped. Thank you.
