Epilogue

- Yucatan, 1936 -

"Pull the damned lever, Sammy, now!" Dean' s frantic yell echoed through the temple.

Closing his eyes tightly, Sam put his hand into the hole, filled with slimy bugs and things he didn't even want to imagine, and pulled. Silence descended.

"Dean!" Sam called out into the darkness. Had he been too late? No, he couldn't have been.

Then the heavy trapdoor opened up and Dean stumbled out of the tiny chamber where Sam could see heavy spikes protruding from the ceiling now. "I don't know whether to kiss you or kill you, Sammy."

Sam gaped. "Excuse me? I just saved your life!"

"Took your sweet time, too," Dean said gruffly. "If you want to be my sidekick, you can't let yourself be scared by a few little bugs."

"Sidekick? You ungrateful…you…" Sam chest was heaving in righteous indignation.

When Dean just continued to grin at him, unimpressed, Sam decided a little action was in order. He grabbed Dean, shoving his back against the wall.

Dean`s eyes widened a bit. Finally Sam had gotten his attention. Sam`s cue to start in on his - already often heard - tirade about how Dean was the most obnoxious, insensitive, selfish pig of a man to ever walk the earth. Dean remained motionless for it. After all, they were a team; they knew each other well.

Therefore, it didn't come as a surprise to either men that soon enough Sam started redirecting his energy to different matters. And, as Sam thought mischieviously, Dean probably learned a new meaning to the phrase´being stuck between a rock and a hard place´.

In the beginning of their partnership Sam had had some vague concerns about temple desecration but he'd eventually let himself be convinced by Dean' s laissez faire attitude on the matter. Okay, maybe Sam hadn't put up too much of a struggle on the matter. But surely, something as good as raiding temples with Dean could not be wrong.

And thank God Dean had gotten over that stupid notion of letting Sam go for his own good. As if the idiot knew better than Sam himself what he truly wanted or what was good for him. No, if the last year had taught him anything, it was that he, Samuel Tristan Morgan, was born for the life of an adventurer.

Trading quick kisses with Dean while they crawled through musky old tombs, Sam couldn't think of a single place he'd rather be. Okay, well, maybe in a comfortable, soft bed in the hotel with Dean, but still. He had turned out to be a natural when it came to the research part of the job, and Dean was more than happy to hand that one over.

Yes, he was definitely glad that he'd dropped the lawyer thing. Studying under - or really any position in relation to - Dean was just so much more satisfying.

This is adorable! You've meshed the spirit of the films with the spirit of the show in such a clever way - such a good read!

Thank you so much. I tried to recapture the Indy-feel and Winchester it at the same time. :) Glad, it worked for you.

Thank you. Yeah, Sam needed a bit of time getting used to the Dean-factor. :)

Now I`m humming it too. :) If I had any talent in fanart, I would have added in little pics with a map of the world and the obligatory little red line to show their travelling. *g*

Thank you so much.

Guess, I'm kinda glad your laptop died, because this was really really fun : ) And if this means the sequel will be slash too, even better *g*

Best parts:

One thing was clear, however: he wasn't God's gift to dancing.

"Holy hell, I' m stuck on a plane with an overgrown toddler in an evening dress," Dean mumbled under his breath.

"You're bossy and short," Sam told him gleefully.

Anyway, I hope the sequel is finished? *g*

Thank you. Response has been a little slow so far, so I thought maybe no one wanted to tell me how it sucked. :-p

Actually the previous started fic is gen. :) But we`ll see, maybe I`m gonna shuffle a few things around. Right now I`ve started on the Dark Age-story. And my J2 fic for the fairytale challenge. *sinks under fic*

One thing was clear, however: he wasn't God's gift to dancing.

Well, we`ve all seen that clip. *g*

Yay, two of my favourite things together - Indiana Jones and Dean Winchester. Yes! Fantastic job adapting one to the other. Where are the dean with a whip pictures?

Thank you. I knew Dean had to be Indy, he has the slightly rough around the edges but still wicked smart-adventurer down. :)

Sadly I`m hopeless with fanart which is why this baby doesn`t have a cover. :/

Awww. *blushes* Thank you so much. I tried to recapture the spirit of Indy but not make it a complete rip-off and "Winchester" it (Joss Whedon totally got me on the kink of verbing nouns *g*) so I`m glad it was a fun read.

I've been waiting for more of your Comes a Horseman and stumbled over your ficlist and read this. It's cool, though I must admit, I love your new fic better ;P
Is there gonna be more soon, PLEASE???

Heh. I`m such a late-bloomer to fanfic, only started writing about two years ago, that every fic is still a learning experience. :) But I`m glad you enjoyed this one too.

More Horseman should be up next week, don`t know yet if Mid-week or Weekend but it will come.

I seriously, seriosly hate you. And love you. And hate you. And love you...

As you can see, it''s really a love/hate thing ^^
Honestly though: I loved it. T'was if not better than the movies(it had to be better - I mean, Dean Winchester as Indiana Jones? COME ON! :D) than just as good. Plus, it had Sammy in a red dress. And loads of wonderful banter. Not to mention cameo-appearances by all-too-familiar characters.
Great job on merging an all-time classic with our beloved show *two thumbs way up*

hugs :*
PS. I second the outtakes/flashbacks pleed from some of the earlier comments. We need more! ^^

I have been and am still planning to write more of them and make this thing into its own little verse. Especially since the new Indy trailer got me all revved up again for the theme.
For the latter part of the last year my brain was just eaten by my historical epic and now I`m working to finish a challenge fic and another sequel but rest assured I have not given up on Dr.Winchester and his amazing assisstant. *g*
