Yay, two clips for DMB this time, that`s about half the ep. Yay, again.

Fist off, the vampires. From what I could see of them, they seemed majorly skanky. And the leader reminded me of the guy from Underworld. Hm.

John gets the prize for most schizophrenic and exasperating character on TV.

And again he comes running for something Celine Demon-related but he didn`t come for Dean nearly dying. And will that EVER be brought up again ? Le Sigh.
Right now Dad really has extreme tunnel vision when it comes to the demon. Sam is motivated by vengeance, too, but not in a way I see it with Dad right now.
(I think either Dad or Sam would have been consumed by their grief and vengeance if they
had been alone the first months after Mary`s or Jess`death.)

John`s: "I had a falling out with him" about Elkins cracked me up. Who didn`t you have a falling out with, John ? Could it maybe have something to do with your overbearing, uber-control freak personality.
I guess the only person who put up with you for any length of time has been Dean. And arguably Mary, but since that was before the Demon, it isn`t exactly the same.

I couldn`t really understand his attitude here. I mean, why didn`t he tell his sons anything ? Even in the army you`re briefed before a mission. Getting information out of him was like pulling teeth. And there was no reason it had to be.

In reaction to that Sam reverted back to child/teenager. And if that`s what it was like for him growing up, I understand his frustration. Because he`s right, the problem really is, that he and Dad are too much alike and not too different.
But in this episode he came across as quite bratty at times. I mean I waited for him to pull the "I`m gonna hold my breath till I get my way."-card. *g*

I think because of Dad`s controlling personality he has become overly sensitive to following orders. Which happens in the real world, the "normal" life he wants, too. Jobs and asshole bosses, anyone ? Sam sometimes is like a child, throwing tantrums, if things are not going exactly the way he wants them too.

I liked however that he once again included Dean in his exasperation. Him asking Dean if he was just okay with Dad taking over the leadership role reminded me of BSGs "Pegasus" when the Prez felt bad for Adama having to submit to Cain.
It`s telling, he actually listens to Dean because Dean treats him a lot more like a competent partner than John. Respect is a two-way street.

I loved, loved Dean`s standing up to Dad. Not one but three times.
First he sends Daddy dearest to his own corner. I half expected a "You`re both grounded." *g* For that matter, Dad listened to Dean, too, which really surprised me.
All in all, Dean really was the most mature one of them here.

Then he calls Dad on his crap.

And in the end while Sam "Yes Sirs" like there is no tomorrow, Dean actually waits for Dad to acknowledge they were right. Sam gives him a hilarious little look right there, all: what the hell got into my brother ?

I loved the conversation between Sam and Dad and Dad actually owning up to his mistakes. Sam really deserved to hear this.
Now please the same for Dean. The dutiful, dependable child needs to hear this, too. Just because he`s not acting up so much doesn`t mean you can just take him for granted.

Also, poor Dean. I imagine he had to play the mediator quite often. Without him as a buffer John and Sam would have probably killed each other.
Sure, Dean could have just stepped away, letting them hash it out on their own, but with the way this "protect the family at all costs"-mentality that was ingrained in him, I don`t really see that.

It will be interesting to see who`s the gonna be the one to fire the magic shot when they finally confront the Celine Demon (IF it happens soon and IF the colt is used for this).
I`m not sure if I want them to draw it out through the whole series or deal with it in the immediate future and have a new mytharc next season. Hm.

Ohm, yes? I'm not surprised Elkins didn't give him the gun he probably just said: "I want that. Gimme!"

Hunh, perhaps Sam and I should have a conversation about that one.

On the other hand, what he does on a 'real' job won't be so personal like the hunt for Jess' and Mary's killer nor will he be expected to risk his life just because somebody says so.
But yeah, if he thinks he'll just waltz through life discussing every little tidbit with people he will be quite surprised.

What I'm asking myself is when was the last time Dean heard something like'I'm proud of you son'. Or even a 'well done'. I fully expected at least those two words after Dean brought the blood from the mortuary. But, nothing.

LOL. Probably finished up with "I`ve given you an order."

Which makes me really mad, because that`s what Dean bases his whole self-worth on, how good he is at the job, at protecting Sammy etc. If he does this well, than he is good for something. And he hardly even gets that from dear old Dad. Nice.
I`m really awaiting the day when Dean just completely freaks out, because he always bottles everything in and just kind of takes it. Sam and Dad are much more likely to get it all out which, yeah, healthier in the long run.
