I watch too much TV...

Watched the two new CW pilots this week:

Arrow - that was pretty good, I thought the guy-returns-home-changed-after-trauma story was done well enough. Compared to what we saw of Ollie in the flashbacks, it is clear that he has changed profoundly.

Maybe the saddest scene for me was him sleeping on the floor in front of an open window. I guess on some level he is incapable of not hurting himself right now. And his family/friends seemed to expect a bit too much in terms of rapid readjustment to his old life. Like, noone even suggested counseling? WTF?

I liked the doctor acknowledging that there was a lot of scar tissue - as well as the mirror scene bringing that home - and lots of fractures that never probably healed. That would be expected after what happened. Though, he shouldn`t be quite as nimble then, should he? If bones don`t properly heal, you lose mobility and dexterity. In fact, a hunchback of Notre Dame like posture would make more sense in that case.

But I realize this is TV and especially the CW so some suspension of disbelief is to be expected.

Did not quite get the Dad shooting himself just then and there. The little blip about the fresh water running out was too short to establish the situation as so dire. Had they been trapped underground and running out of air, different ballgame.

Liked the relationship with the little sister. And even the ex-girlfriend has potential. Not too sure on the best friend but at least he seems to have a few more layers than party-boy.

Nice twist that it was the Mom who was evil and not the Stepdad.

Will stay tuned.

Beauty and the Beast - you know, I will go ahead and say that I didn`t actually hate this. Nope, it doesn`t have great or even good writing and it`s a lot less profound than the original but I didn`t expect any of those things going in anyway. It will be a romance mixed with a procedural, highlighted with cheese. Sometimes when I`m in the mood, I like those. Maybe next week I`ll be reaching for the bleech again. *g* Also, surprisingly, I didn`t get "OMG, it`s Lana, nooooooo" factor much, as I had feared.

Of course I had to giggle that the height of "beastlyness" in terms of the CW is a scar. Like, you are making a show called "Beauty and the Beast" and go "but both leads still have to be hot, you know". Hee.

So he is simply the Hulk. Granted, I think Ron Perlman would have prefered that to sitting in a make-up chair for hours every day but it`s the easiest way out. And I can admit that it`s more pleasant looking at the guy as is.

The story with Katherine`s mother is basically Beckett on Castle and hopefully not that much of a drag.

Wasn`t quite so keen on taking a famous Delena song from TVD for their final scene. Seeing as the two shows air on the same night, it seemed a bit weird.

Other TV reactions in one sentence or less:

Haven Get your fucking act together, Nathan, I`ve had it up to here with your "guilty till proven innocent" bullshit.

Fringe Hm, I`m still somehow waiting for the story to get going already.

Vammpire Diaries I want Ripper!Stefan to come back and kick Lapdog!Stefan`s ass, right off that Dawson`s Creek moment on the roof. Oy.

Grimm Juliette and Renard? DNW.

Surprisingly, I didn't hate Beauty and the Beast either. I think it was because I expected the worst from it, but then it was just kind of mediocre instead of horrible. So in my head that made it okay.

Compare that to my absolute hate for Revolution and, in a way, Last Resort, which I wanted to love and expected to be good. And then they give us that... It's probably my own disappoinment talking in those cases.

As for Haven: They just go and break my heart, don't they? I want my OT3 back! The only thing have right now that is saving me from total heartbreak is the fact that of course they all have to go into different directions first, to make "Love conquers all" work in the end. I cannot wait for that to happen though.

And then they should have hot threesome sex.

I did, too. In fact, I had planned on relentlessly mocking it while watching but then it wasn`t soooo bad, I figured I give it a few more eps.

Seeing as me and Kripke parted on very unfriendly terms, I pretty much expected it to suck. And it does. I can see all the stuff that drove me bonkers about his writing on SPN, only this time it`s a) worse and b) nothing saves him from himself, neither casting nor other people, it seems.

I really, really hope so. When Duke almost drowned in the last episode, I thought Nathan would thaw out a little bit, show some concern but he still basically stood there with that suspicious look, as if he was about to go "is he killing telephatically now?" And then almost shooting him? Wow. Maybe the tattoo of semi-evolness effects him in some way.

And then they should have hot threesome sex.

I approve of that idea. \o/

I was surprised to find that I didn't hate B&B either. And I thought Kristin Kreuk was quite likable in the role, though I don't think she's ever going to be a great actress.

Maybe it`s because I truly expected horribleness. When they released that teaser a while back, it looked atrocious but in the context of the episode, it wasn`t so bad.

And of course I had heard how bad the reviews were.

I think the show has earned a chance, if nothing else. There is much, much worse crap going on on TV and for much longer.

And I thought Kristin Kreuk was quite likable in the role, though I don't think she's ever going to be a great actress.

Yup, I feared Lana - the return but instead she came across well enough.

I always felt a bit sorry for the actress because while she doesn`t have the greatest range, the problem with Lana was clearly the creepy infatuation the producers had with character/actress. From a few interviews I`ve seen KK came across as nice and not too happy about the fact she was playing an ultra-Sue either.

I loved Arrow, didn't try Beauty and the Beast yet. I'm saving Haven for marathoning later, just like Fringe. And Grimm was delegated to DVD :P I have too many movies and shows to watch as it is.

I don't think we have to worry about Juliette and Renard. At least I hope not! I'm curious to see how that plays out, though. Poor Nick!!!!
