It's that time a year...

As we're nearing the end of fall Season for most shows, I thought I'd do a last small update-review-thingie:

New Shows I picked up this year:

Once Upon a Time - status: Already dropped it because it was not moving anywhere

Revenge - status: Stopped watching mid-way through but have saved it for maybe marathoning later, odds aren't high though because I just can't get into the main character

The Secret Circle - status: Stopped and started watching again. Now that the story has been established, it ain't so bad and at least I see potential. Also, they have managed one or two twists I didn't predict so kudos for that.

Terra Nova and The River - status: moot question as, cancelled. Though, god help me, I probably would have continued watching them for the popcorn trash factor.

Ringer - status: Stopped watching and only picked up the Misha ep as well as the Finale. Seeing as it has a 99,99 % chance of not retuning, I don't consider it a big loss. Though in that case, I would have rooted for more of a happy end.

Grimm - status: Beat me with a cotton ball but apart from the terrible German names, the mythology they have been building is actually kind of interesting. Also, after thinking Nick a rather bland character in the beginning, I find him pretty loveable now. Maybe he doesn't exactly ooze charisma but he is a quintessential "nice guy". And if nothing else, I have to give this show props for writing "nice guy" without going obnoxious Ultra-Sue. Who knew that was still possible.

Person of Interest - status: Watching and loving it. Also, it's already renewed. Yay.

Returning shows:

House - status: I'm really fine with it finally ending as I've been watching more out of habit than anything else. Again, hope for some kind of "happy ending". And possibly Park to fuck off. For the love of whatever, don't pair her off with Chase. They don't even have "odd couple" chemistry.

Castle, Bones - status: Still watching and being reasonably entertained but it has lost lots of its previous goofy charms.

Criminal Minds - status: To be honest, I kinda wish they'd wrap it up. I don't hate it or anything and mostly the eps are good for one-time watching still but the spark has gone.

The Big Bang Theory + Community - status: Both still really make me laugh. Oddly, I don't get tired of the "gimmicks" on Community and on TBBT, surprisingly Howard works best for me in the snark department these days.

Supernatural - status: For years it's now this close to finally being dropped. That's the third crap Season in a row. *shakes head*

The Vampire Diaries - status: Mostly still loving it. But, lately I find it kind of "mean". All in all, I liked the beginning of the Season much better.

Fringe - status: Thank GOD, they renewed it. It would have hurt so much to see crap going into its upteenth Season yet Fringe cancelled now. I know the ratings suck but this is a show that has IMO been consistently good over 4!!! ffreaking Seasons. I'm not sure there is another genre show I can personally make that claim about.

Castle didn't make the cut for me, sadly, since there is no convenient way to get hold of 40 minute drama shows anymore. I liked it, though it had lost some of ts charm, but there are other shows I want to watch more :-/

It's certainly gotten a lot more inconvenient, hasn`t it? Sigh.

My week is pretty "full" with the number of shows I'm watching now. Can't usually manage more than one or two episodes after a workday, if that. And if my heart isn't really in it, that comes down to zero.

I am totally with you on Grimm! I'm starting to like it more and more. It was shaky in the beginning, but the characterization on that series is better than it seems at first glance, and I am also getting more and more interested in the mythology. Plus, I agree entirely on Nick. He's truly a nice guy, and it isn't shoved in the audience's faces in an obnoxious way.

(I also suspect Nick's actor is getting slightly better. Now he seems to at least attempt acting now and again, rather than just standing there looking pretty. Or is it just me getting used to his non-emoting?)

Also, Captain Renard... this could be a *great* character, depending on where they go with him.

The last ep but one even had me feel sorry for Adaline. That was quite an accomplishment.

Yup, the little clues we have gotten via Renard have truly been intriguing. And speaking of, I just love that character. He is mysterious, a badass and despite being somewhat shady, I like that he is a genuinely good police captain. He is neither acting like a douche to show us how he is secretely evol nor syruppy-sweet and manipulative to Nick to gain his trust. I get the impression he is a tough yet fair and approachable "boss".

I also suspect Nick's actor is getting slightly better. Now he seems to at least attempt acting now and again, rather than just standing there looking pretty. Or is it just me getting used to his non-emoting?

I think it's a mixture of him growing more comfortable in the role and the audience accepting that Nick is just not one of thse very passionate characters but more subdued, easy-going nice guy.

Have to admit I'm liking his bitchy eye-rolls when a wesen is involved in a case and he really has no patience for it. That is so incredibly cute.

I just love that as a Grimm he has this reputation of being stone-cold, dedicated wesen-killer yet in reality, he is good friends with a bunch of them now and he never actively hunts the others. He only ever does cop work, not real "Grimm" work.

The last ep but one even had me feel sorry for Adaline. That was quite an accomplishment.

I never liked the character but did feel a tiny bit sorry for her.

But I'm totally loving Rosalee and boy, that character had the potential to be a disaster - coming between Nick and Monroe, being a new "better" Wesen-expert with oodles of knowledge etc - but that pulled it off great.

Oh, I like this. :-) I've been meaning to make a similar post, only longer because I was going to include all shows, so break it up into many posts. I may still do that. Perhaps you've inspired me. :-)

I like The Secret Circle. I'm not sure why. It's not the greatest show and it's so silly at times, but I don't take it too seriously.

I'm also still watching Fringe, Castle, Person of Intereset, Grimm, Ringer, and Once Upon a Time. It took me a very long time to get into Once Upon a Time. I don't know why I kept watching it, but now it's becoming a show a look forward to each week.
