This has to be the year of "rethink your vacation" for me.

I had it neatly planned out, go to Egypt in the spring and to India in the fall. Egypt was all booked and ready and the travel days secured. Then the riots happened and I went to China instead. Also "relocating" my vacation days to November where Marco Polo travels offered another trip to Egypt. Only, alas, I apparently waited too long and the November thing is sold out. Damn you, pyramids, I will get to you one day. I know, I could easily go with another company but I enjoyed the MP trip and live strictly by "if it ain't broken, don't fix it".

So, changing my vacation back to the fall, I have now booked a trip to Kenia, a Safari (of the picture taking kind, mind you) no less. Definitely excited for that.

And you know, next year, I plan for Australia. Which probably means I'm gonna end up going to Machu Picchu (where I also plan to go one day). *g*

Of course, once I managed all that, the real tricky part just begins. One of my big goals has always been to set foot on every single continent. And I don't plan on cheating. :)

Haha i was going to suggest to go to Machu Picchu instead of Egypt since they have pyramids (and more exciting for my taste).
Kenia sounds good too though (though i'm afraif of all things Africa).

Heh, it's still on my to-do list in any case. You ever been to Machu Picchu?

Of course, I expect quite the cultural shock but it's a guided trip so I'm hoping it's as safe as can be.

I've never been to any place and won't be. Don't have a passport and no visa and no money for that. All i can is dream about places i could visit.

As for Africa i keep hearing how they kidnap tourists here and there so i'm afraid for you. *hugs*

Oooooooh Kenia? Africa is BIG on my list as well, only I'd prefer Tansania and the Serengeti. Still, it's so expensive I doubt I'll ever get to do it :-/ Take loads of photos, okay?

I debated between Kenia and Tansania. Marco Polo trips offers both and you get a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti and visiting a volcano and stuff. On the other hand, in Kenia, it's waterfalls, the lake Victoria, several wildlife parks, a "Nebelwald" area, a rift where you can see East Africa starting to drift off from the African continent and a Massai village.

Though neither one was exactly cheap, sigh. :/ But I've really, really cut back on my DVD/book etc sales to make room for two expensive vacations this year. And I'll probably dip into my savings a little bit.

Take loads of photos, okay?

I'll do my best but I'm not good at taking pictures. You probably get to see lots of tails and horns but no animals when I take them. *g*
