The Criminal Minds shenanigans crack me up. So, the network meddles and forces the producers to basically cut two female regulars while at the same time adding a new - younger - female regular, no doubt because they were absolutely sure it would increase the ratings. Which the show did VERY well in before all those changes. Granted, the demos skewed older but hey, it's a crime procedural AND an aging show, you will never get the 12-17 crowd to be its primary viewers. *headdesk*

Cue fan outrage, other actor outrage, producer outrage but hey, the suits know best, right?

Fastforward a year later and both female regulars are being brought back while the youngster is dropped. Isn't that what we call an exercise in pointlessness? We're basically back where we started before the meddling.

Of course now there is still contract negotiations for Gibson. I say learn from the past and don't fix it, if it ain't broken. Jeeze.

They are bringing back Prentiss, too? Yay!

I always thought they had no idea what to do with that new agent. Most of the time, she was standing around in the background and did nothing interesting. I still believe if they want to cut costs, they should get rid of Rossi, the only character of the show who serves no purpose.

God, yes please. It doesn't help I really can't stand the way the actors delivers his lines.

Aww, I dig Rossi. My UO is that I was never really a fan of Gideon and pretty much glad when the actor left.

I like the whole team really as it was before the suits stepped in and don't want any changes anymore. Seaver can go, of course.

I actually quite liked Gideon. Rossi's just so...he does NOTHING for me. I wish Hotch could just be the leader and everything would be fine :)

Heh, and we're back to being polar opposites again. *g* Then again, I have never really been a big fan of Patinkin.

I wish Hotch could just be the leader and everything would be fine :)

But Hotch is the leader already, isn't he? I mean, he is in charge of the team and Rossi answers to him like everyone else despite having technical seniority.

Ah, everything's right with the world again *gg*

Uhm...I actually don't know. Like I said, I haven't watched in a year :)

Hotch was always the leader, even when Gideon was still part of the team. Think of it as: Hotch = Boss, Gideo/Rossi = Main Profiler. Just that after Gideon was gone, Hotch pretty much became the team's second Main Profiler, which is why I said Rossi has no purpose on the show.

Yup, it depended on Paget Brewster's Pilot being picked up - which it didn't - so CBS used its option to get her back on the show. Of course they'll have to deal with Prentiss, Hotch and J.J. lying to everyone else about their death. Personally, not sure if I could forgive something like this since it's a cruel thing to do.

I still believe if they want to cut costs, they should get rid of Rossi, the only character of the show who serves no purpose.

I like Rossi, never was a big fan of Gideon though. Basically, I want the team to stay the same (minus Seaver who really is not a part of it).

If that happens I'll start watching again. I only quit watching CM out of protest because it was one of the few shows with a great female cast, and I was furious when I heard they were gonna cut them.

Hehe, that is so embarassing for CBS. Serves them right. I mean, I get maybe network meddling for a low-rated show but what was their excuse with CM? It did great in the ratings.

Exactly. I hope that'll teach them a lesson :D (I can dream, right?)
