Oh my.

Yesterday a few DVDs I had ordered ages ago finally arrived, one being Athens 1894, a little fictional retelling of the first new Olympic Games. I hadn't watched that for years, it's been made in the 80s, and thankfully I still found it cheesy but adorable.

I even has an honest to God slash pairing with two athletes. They have a meet-cute, they hate each other initially and it ends with one craddling! the other in his arms and reciting poetry to him when he collapses during the Marathon run. Really, it's uncanny.
So why wasn't I sighing in contentment? Why wasn't it as beautiful as it sounds? Because one of this pairing is none other than freaking Horatio Caine. Yes, it's slash with David Caruso, sans glasses.

Why cruel world, why? *headdesk*

In other news, I finally got around to watching Ten Inch Hero . And while movies like that are usually not exactly my thing, it was better than I imagined.

Liked that the kid wasn't Piper's because it made the ending happy without being too perfect.

And yeah, the ending with Priestley dressing up preppy to ask Tish out kind of undermined the message "stay who you are and fuck the people who don't love you like this" but I have to plead guilty on liking the preppy look better. Yes, I'm shallow. And proud of it. *g* Besides, their interaction in the movie spoke of some feelings on her side for him before the transformation. Though there was still some strange eye-makeup even in the preppy clothes.

Jen and the computer guy were cute too. I felt bad for him when she stood him up in that restaurant because it's kinda horrible when people do that in movies.

Loved the two dudes who held up the hygiene articles, hoping to get laid. And then "um, keep the lube."

So yeah, a bit cute, a bit heartwarming, a bit schmaltzy, yes but heck, it's Christmas. *g* Next up is Christmas Cottage which I expect will be a lot schmaltzier. The sides, oh my.

Here we go again

For Gawds' sake why? He is that preppy guy who disguised himself with all that punk look and then he decided to go as he feels himself - preppy. What's wrong with it?

I felt it was the other way around. He seemed so confident and self-assured in his punk get-up, liking how he dressed there and he was all insecure in the preppy look. Thus, I believe he changed to please her, not because that's how he felt inside. Seeing, as I liked the clean-up look better, it didn't really bother me, but to me it went against what the movie was trying to say up to this point. If they'd played it through, I would have expected Tish agreeing to go out with him in punk get-up as a sign that she got over the superficial stuff.

I see but me personally see it other way around. For me he was secure in punk outfit just cos it was an act and he was used to play with this mask on his face. And he was insecure in preppy look cos it's who he is inside and he felt as if he's nacked before her. Themeaning of the movie is intact to me - she was used to his punk look and all previous preppy guys sucked for her so being another preppy was a risk to him but he choose to risk and show her real himself - i saw it this way.

Tell me about it. It's such a beautiful, beautiful scene but I can't help thinking HoCaine will pull out his glasses any moment. Oy.

But the movie, or rather two-parter is really sweet apart from that.

LOL, I think I squeed and clapped little clappy hands when I realized that was Priestley walking into the shop at the end. I totally liked the preppy look better, too. And I dunno, I kinda thought it was just either him growing up or that maybe all the other Priestley stuff was just him being awkward for the sake of not having to deal with real stuff. I know, how eloquent is my language, lol.

Hehe. I do like my boy better cleaned up as well :) but I felt the Priestley look was his real identity and he changed to get the girl. Which in the end meant the superficial girl went out with the nice guy, but only after he met her standards of looks anyway. Considering how all the other storylines ran throughout the movie, that one veered a bit off there. Still, no big deal for me. I'm happy to have enjoyed the movie as much as I did.

I know what you mean. I put off watching it forever, expecting it to be just terrible, but then i really, really liked it. Go figure.

I haven't watch Ten Inch Hero yet but you have no idea how right you are for Christmas Cottage. If you're mentally ready, you'll be able to survive.

I don't know the other movie you talked about but that

Yes, it's slash with David Caruso, sans glasses.

is just wrong. On so many levels.

I'm prepared to drown in a sugary syruppy mass. *g*

I know. And that would be such a cute pairing if not for that. Sigh.

I confirm: you're ready. My advice: protect your ears! The music can be deadly! *g*

BTW, the abouttwoboys2 comm got taken down (if you go to my last night post, you'll get the explanation) but the same challenge is going to take place here: whenboymeetsboy. So, have you pondered last night?
