And most amusing bit of last night? McCain mentions Palin is "fresh young face in politics" which prompts reporter A in the studio to muse if four years down the line she might not be running again, for President.

Cut to reporter B. *blink blink* "Fuck no." Okay, he used other words but he pretty much dissuaded reporter A from that notion. *g*

Heh! Yeah, it's my opinion that McCain may have won, or at least would've been a hell of a lot closer, if he hadn't chosen Palin as a running mate. (From what I heard, he wanted Lieberman and the party pushed him to get Palin for the social conservative vote.) She was an embarrassment to the party and to US politics from start to finish (she cited fruit fly research as frivolous use of taxpayer dollars... not realizing, no doubt, that huge advances in various branches of biology have been made solely because of work in the fruit fly model), and CNN mentioned that twice as many people cited age than cited race as a factor in their candidate choice... thus, you could really tell that a ton of people were concerned about McCain dying, and someone as completely inexperienced as Palin running the country.

Now, Obama's not terribly experienced either, but he at least has a career politician as his VP, who's been in the Senate for almost a decade longer than I've been alive. :P

I'm not even in the country she would have possibly been running and that thought terrified me. Eek.

But yeah, bad choice from all involved. I mean it was like she was announced, polls for McCain went slightly up, then she gave a few interviews/presented herself to the public and was quickly whisked away again. By her own party. Did the people in charge not look at her beforehand? Because call me crazy but before I present a candidate to the voting public, I'm gonna make sure they won't embarass the hell out of me. No matter what potential vote I might hope they bring.
